The temple was built in the Tang Dynasty, formerly known as the Biluo Taoist Temple. In the first year of Xianchun of Emperor Gaozong (AD 670), it was renamed Longxing Temple. 【Longxing Pagoda】

Longxing Pagoda, the landmark building of Jiangzhou, is located in the Longxing Temple of Xinjiang. It is recorded that the tower was built in the Zhenguan period of the Tang Dynasty, originally eight stories high. In the 42nd year of Emperor Qianlong's reign of Qing Dynasty (AD 1777), due to the reason of the collapse of the outer tower in 1777, it was covered with outer skin when being rebuilt, raised to thirteen stories, octagonal, 43.7 meters high. This tower is a unique symbol of the ancient city, so also known as the "Jiangzhou Pagoda."

The main reason why the ancient pagoda is famous is that the pagoda gives off smoke. According to the "Xinjiang County Record", Longxing Pagoda had six times of smoking: in the first year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty, in 1937, 1971, 1976 and 1993. According to the 1941 "inscription on the tablet of rebuilding Xinjiang Longxing Temple", in the first year of Guangxu Emperor (1875 AD), "smoke rose from the top of the tower and the sky rose straight up, which was a sign of the name of developed science". In the Mid-autumn Festival in 1971, every day near dusk, a wisp of smoke rose from the top of the tower, lasted about half an hour to disappear, three or four hundred meters away from the tower could be clearly seen, this phenomenon repeated more than ten days to stop, no less than a thousand spectators each day. According to the record of the Xinjiang County Museum, August 21, 1993 solstice 28 consecutive 8 days, every day near dusk, the top of the pagoda smoked again, the duration was different, the reason, still need scientific research.

It was officially opened as a tourist attraction in 1991. In January 1996, it was rated as the key cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province. In December 2002, it was listed as a national AA level scenic spot. In May 2006, it was announced as a national key cultural relic protection unit. It is now managed by the Xinjiang County Museum.
